🔒 Eldric is a local-first application. Your data never leaves your device unless you explicitly configure connections to third-party AI services. We do not operate cloud services that process your data.

1. Who We Are

Eldric is developed and published by [core] Informationstechnologie, Jürgen Paulhart, based in Austria. We build local AI infrastructure software that runs entirely on your hardware.

2. Data We Do Not Collect

The Eldric application — including the macOS App Store version and all standalone builds — does not collect, transmit, or store any of the following:

  • No user accounts or registration required
  • No telemetry or usage analytics
  • No tracking pixels, advertising identifiers, or fingerprinting
  • No crash reports sent to our servers
  • No personal data transmitted to Eldric or [core] servers

We have no analytics SDKs, no third-party tracking libraries, and no server-side data collection infrastructure for the application itself.

3. Data Stored Locally on Your Device

Eldric stores all application data locally on your Mac (or other device) in your user directory. This includes:

  • Chat history and sessions — all conversations are stored locally in ~/.config/eldric/ and are never transmitted to any server
  • Configuration and preferences — stored in a local SQLite database on your device
  • Prompt library and knowledge bases — stored locally for RAG (Retrieval Augmented Generation) functionality
  • Vector database files — embeddings and indexes remain on your device

You have full control over this data. Deleting the Eldric configuration directory removes all stored data.

4. Third-Party API Keys and Connections

Eldric supports connections to third-party AI inference services such as OpenAI, Anthropic, Groq, Together AI, and others. When you choose to configure these:

  • API keys are stored locally on your device only, within Eldric’s encrypted configuration database
  • Direct connections — Eldric connects directly to the third-party service. We never proxy, intercept, relay, or log these connections
  • No key transmission — your API keys are never sent to Eldric, [core], or any server other than the provider you configured
  • Your responsibility — usage of third-party services is subject to their respective privacy policies and terms of service

By default, Eldric uses local AI backends (such as Ollama) that run entirely on your machine. No third-party connections are made unless you explicitly configure them.

5. Eldric Cluster License Validation

The standalone version of Eldric (not the App Store version) includes optional distributed cluster functionality that requires a license. If you activate an enterprise license, the following limited communication occurs:

  • The Eldric Controller may contact octopus.core.at to validate your license and check for software updates
  • This communication transmits: machine ID, hostname, Eldric version, and license ID
  • No chat content, user data, API keys, or personal information is transmitted during license validation
  • License validation can operate in offline mode using a locally stored signed license file, requiring no network communication

The App Store version does not include cluster functionality and performs no license server communication.

6. App Store Version

The macOS App Store version of Eldric:

  • Contains zero analytics, telemetry, or tracking code
  • Makes no network connections to Eldric or [core] servers
  • Does not use Apple’s App Analytics or any third-party analytics framework
  • Stores all data in the app’s sandboxed container on your Mac
  • Only makes network connections that you explicitly initiate (e.g., connecting to a local Ollama instance or a cloud AI provider you configured)

7. Website

The Eldric website at eldric.ai is a static HTML site. It does not use cookies, does not run analytics scripts, and does not track visitors. No personal data is collected through the website.

8. Data Sharing

We do not sell, trade, rent, or share your personal data with any third parties. Since we do not collect personal data through the Eldric application, there is nothing to share.

9. Children’s Privacy

Eldric does not knowingly collect any personal information from children under the age of 13 (or applicable age in your jurisdiction). Since Eldric does not collect personal information from any user, this applies by design.

10. Data Security

All data remains on your local device under your operating system’s security controls. API keys stored in Eldric’s configuration are protected by your system’s file permissions. Enterprise license files use Ed25519 cryptographic signatures for integrity verification.

11. Your Rights

Since all data is stored locally on your device, you have complete control:

  • Access — all your data is in ~/.config/eldric/
  • Deletion — remove the configuration directory to delete all data
  • Portability — copy your configuration directory to transfer data between machines
  • Restriction — no data processing to restrict, as we do not process your data

12. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated revision date. Our core commitment — that Eldric is a local-first application that does not collect your data — will not change.
